I have had the privilege of meeting a pioneering young teacher working in Japan, Fern Sensei.

Fern uses my Series of 8 eBooks 'Alphabetic Code and Phonics Skills which he has modified slightly - adding a few of his own words and changing the font of some words (although I don't recommend this, the school management where Fern worked insisted).

Nevertheless, Fern and his young pupil are doing an excellent job with the systematic synthetic phonics approach and I am immensely impressed, gratified and humbled by the way that Fern works so hard to learn about this method and to spread the word in Japan about the Phonics International materials and approach:
