My new Oxford University Press Phonics Spelling Dictionary

Post by debbie »

This Phonics Spelling Dictionary is now available through Oxford University Press. It's difficult to get an idea about its contents from the top link - but if you go to the free 'activities' link, you can get some indication of the nature of the new Phonics Spelling Dictionary.

It's really handy and informative for parents and teachers of younger children and children learning English as a new or second language. It marries with the Alphabetic Code Chart of the Oxford Reading Tree Floppy's Phonics Sounds and Letters programme but can be used with any other programme as alphabetic code information is generic:

This is another page with screenshots of the various free activities, but I don't think it includes such a comprehensive range as the link in the posting above.

These are really super activities - and I do recommend the phonics dictionary as a great resource for beginners - it will help teachers and parents to appreciate the nature of the English alphabetic code too!
