I have updated the list of vowel phonemes and consonant phonemes in the main 'Programme Overview and Guidance' booklet which is free to download via the top of the free Unit 1 webpage.
On page 16 entitled, 'Have you thought about this?', I have added to an incomplete list of 'combined phonemes'.
In Phonics International, I include some units of sound which are two phonemes combined or a 'schwa' plus a phoneme.
Some units of sound have to be introduced as 'two phonemes combined' because of the English spelling system (the alphabetic code) - for example, letter x is code for /k+s/ in words such as 'fox' and it is code for /g+z/ in words such as 'exam'.
I have also included some units of sound for practical reasons such as '-le' as code for /u+l/ as in 'kettle' and 'ture' as code for /chu/ as in 'picture'.
Whilst I had originally listed some of the combined units of sound, I had not included the full list as introduced in the Phonics International programme.
My apologies!
