Teachers told not to point out more than 3 spelling mistakes

And are the teachers even trained in the complexities of the English spelling system and how to teach spelling?

Do the secondary teachers know how to teach spelling and how to mark for spelling - and how to support their pupils to improve their spelling in such a way as to turn attention away from the individual pupil and towards the complexities and details of the English alphabetic code?

And is there an Alphabetic Code Chart on display in every classroom?

Not yet!

According to MP Andrew Selous, he's

''Delighted to get support on Mumsnet for my call for schools to correct more than 3 spelling mistakes in each piece of a child's work.''
