We want teachers to want to know how effectively they are teaching all children to read. Comparing effectiveness is not a small thing in reading instruction, it is a huge issue. Far too many children are 'instructional casualties' or ABT (Ain't Been Taught) - but there are many teachers who would dearly love to know what they can do, or do differently, to become more effective. Other teachers stick to their own practices and beliefs regardless of the outcomes which, if lower than what is possible, is to be unaccountable.
